Matthew Lillard's Scream-Filled Halloween: Tequila, Killer Cakes, and a Possible Return to SCREAM

This Halloween, Matthew Lillard is immersing himself in the world of horror, launching his own scream-themed tequila and hosting Blumhouse’s chilling baking competition, “Killer Cakes.” He's also gearing up for his return in Five Nights at Freddy’s 2. Amidst his busy schedule, Lillard made a thrilling appearance on Drew Barrymore’s talk show, where he teased fans with the possibility of returning to the iconic Scream saga.

For die-hard Scream fans, Lillard's character, Stu Macher, remains a subject of fascination. Lillard has been vocal about his belief that Stu might still be alive, a theory he eagerly supported during his recent chat with Drew.

For those who need a refresher, Stu Macher was last seen enduring multiple stab wounds and a TV set crashing onto his head—injuries that, intriguingly, might not be as fatal as they seem in the horror universe.

So, what does Lillard think about the ongoing rumors of Stu's survival?

“Stu is definitely alive, right? My character Stu is definitely alive,” Lillard confidently stated when asked. As for reprising the role, he added, “I would love it. If it made sense for the franchise. If Kevin [Williamson] liked it. Then sure. Obviously.”

Kevin Williamson, the mastermind behind Wes Craven’s original Scream, is directing the franchise’s upcoming seventh installment. With Neve Campbell’s Sidney Prescott returning, it seems Williamson is keen on embracing the franchise’s legacy, making Lillard’s return a tantalizing possibility.

Stay tuned to see if the scream of Stu Macher will echo once more in the horror world.

Never say never.
