The six-episode limited series premieres on Peacock Friday, October 13
John Carpenter, the master of horror, will be presenting a limited series consisting of six episodes that will highlight his belief that "nothing we create is as scary as reality." The series, titled John Carpenter's Suburban Screams, will premiere on Friday, October 13th and will combine real-life horror with Carpenter's cinematic vision in such a way that it may make you suspicious of your neighbors. The stories presented in the series are based on true crimes that occurred in our own suburban areas, delving into the terrors of tree-lined streets. This comes as no surprise from the man who made the idyllic suburb of Haddonfield more frightening than any post-apocalyptic setting.
According to Carpenter, "I always say, 'Nothing we create is as scary as reality,' and that's the guiding principle behind the series which reveals that your 'safe zone' is never really safe." Carpenter will direct one of the episodes in the series, which will incorporate a blend of personal photos, news clips, archival footage, and cinematic-level dramatic production. The other episodes will be directed by Roberts, Michelle Latimer, and Jan Pavlacky. John Carpenter's Suburban Screams is produced by Storm King Productions and DIGA Studios.
