Following yesterday’s face-huggingly good poster reveal, 20th Century Studios has just released the full trailer for Fede Álvarez’s "Alien: Romulus," and it looks like Álvarez has once again hit it out of the park.
The film stars Cailee Spaeny (known for "Civil War" and "The Craft: Legacy"), Isabela Merced, David Jonsson, Archie Renaux, Spike Fearn, and Aileen Wu. "Alien: Romulus" has been described as “an original standalone feature,” set between the events of the first two Alien films.
Here’s the full plot synopsis from the script co-written by Álvarez and Rodo Sayagues (of "Evil Dead" fame):
While scavenging the deep ends of a derelict space station, a group of young space colonizers come face to face with the most terrifying life form in the universe.
Ridley Scott, the original director of "Alien," is on board as a producer for this latest installment and has praised it as “fucking great.”
Fans of Álvarez’s 2013 reimagining of "Evil Dead" know that he has a knack for revitalizing classic horror franchises, so expectations for "Alien: Romulus" are sky-high. Álvarez himself has described "Romulus" as “an amalgamation of Alien and Aliens on many levels.” That’s definitely something to get excited about!
The newly released trailer teases some gory scares, epic explosions, and – of course – a suitably sticky Xenomorph, with what appears to be an homage to one of "Alien 3's" most infamous scenes.
"Alien: Romulus" is set to hit theaters on August 16, 2024. Mark your calendars, because this is one sci-fi horror you won’t want to miss!
